The Research Grants in Germany program supports research-related stays in Germany carried out by PhD students at the dissertation stage and recent postdocs.

Doctoral Degree Programs

Cotutelle Doctoral Programs

The Cotutelle Doctoral Programs in Germany research grant offers funding for students to pursue bi-national doctoral degree programs. This program supports both formal Cotutelle study programs as well as PhD students working under a joint supervision arrangement including a German scholar.

Focus on German Studies

German Studies Research Grant

This specialized DAAD program offers German Studies Research Grants to highly-qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are nominated by their department/program chairs. The grant may be used for short-term research (one to two months) in Germany.

Eligibility

International Students and Scholars

DAAD program offerings in North America are typically open full-time students and faculty at North American universities. In most cases, international students and scholars at North American universities are eligible for our programs if they if they meet certain requirements.
