Germany and its universities are open to the world. Scholars interested in pursuing their academic work in Germany will find colleagues intrigued by the possibilities of collaboration and a research infrastructure that is both accessible and excellent.

DAAD works to foster connections between scholars and institutions in Canada and their counterparts in Germany by offering a number of programs to strengthen the links between academe in Germany and Canada. These programs support both the activities of individual scholars and post-secondary institutions seeking to strengthen their international ties and details on these opportunities can be found below.

Research

Germany is home to an exceptional research infrastructure including world class laboratories, research institutes, libraries and archives. These facilities are typically accessible to international scholars, and DAAD North America’s Faculty Research Visit Grant helps academics carry out short-term research stays in Germany (1-3 months) by covering their living expenses while in the country for research purposes.

Faculty Mobility

Come to Germany for a short-term research stay or a long-term research position in a university, research institute or industry. International researchers can research and work in a state of the art working environment as part of an international team.

Getting to Know Germany

DAAD offers several programs to foster deeper institutional links between Canadian and German universities for both individual faculty members as well as faculty-led student groups.
