German Language and Language Tests
German Language and Language Tests

Before being admitted to a higher education in Germany you generally have to take a German language proficiency test - "Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang" (DSH) or "Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache" (TestDaF). Ask the International Office of your host university what knowledge of German language you have to bring. Of course, if you enroll in an International Degree Program, which is tought in English, you will most likely be exempt from taking these tests.
You do not need to take a university language entrance examination if you have already passed one of the following tests. More Information here.
- Deutsches Sprachdiplom (German Language Diploma); Level II
- Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (Central Advanced Test)
- Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom (Intermediate German Language Diploma)
- Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (Advanced German Language Diploma)
